Where we started
“Who dares despise the day of small things.” - Zechariah 4:10
The humble journey of Pilgrims Gospel Church began as early as 2006 with a handful of people meeting as a midweek evening prayer gathering while the members were part of the then Assemblies of God church, Aberdeen. As more Malayalam-speaking communities moved to Aberdeen seeking employment predominantly in the health and oil sector, the need for regular Sunday Malayalam service and cultural expression was felt inevitable. Thus, regular Sunday services in the Malayalam language began in April 2007. Since then, God's constant grace has been evident in the church's life, in every aspect, steadily bringing spiritual and numerical growth.
While remaining as an offshoot of King's Church, Aberdeen, the process to register Pilgrims Gospel Church as an independent charity under OSCR (Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator) began in 2015, and charity status was granted in early 2016. Now, Pilgrims Gospel Church remains as an independent Pentecostal church in association with Assemblies of God, Great Britain. We exist to raise a generation that serves the Lord and reaches the lost with the Gospel locally and globally. Since 2013, Pilgrims has been partnering with Jeevan-Jyothy Mission India in evangelization, church-planting, and various humanitarian endeavors, mainly in the Indian states of Bihar, Orissa, and West Bengal.
When King's Church, Aberdeen acquired the iconic site of the former Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre in 2020, Pilgrims was graciously offered a permanent church facility at the Bridge Building in King's Campus. With the wholehearted support, hard work, and participation of every church member, the new facility was opened for service in April 2021.
As every tree has a story that begins with a small seed, so is the kingdom of God which is likened to a small seed. Echoing the word of Apostle Paul 'neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth (1 Cor 3:7)' we ascribe all glory and honour to our God for our journey thus far. At the same time, we look forward with expectation and excitement to everything that lies ahead, for many more stories to be written for the glory of the Lord………………
